Rasputin... I can understand some of the points you are making by looking at this album from a different perspective, but I think you should try to not look at it as a black metal album for a minute, and as a folk metal album instead. Makes the album hella more interesting.
that's beside the point, whichever way you look at it, the album fails at creating a cohesive atmosphere. plus it would be fruitless to look at this as a folk metal album, because it's not trying to be a folk metal album.
