There's no need for good punctuation when reviewing an Emmure album Irving.
Indeed; I retract my comments ;)

Thank you =)

If society expected that key ingredient real musicians call progression they’ll get a pinch.
What does that mean? =(

thanks for the pointers buddy. I'll go over what you said and fix the errors. I'll go over some stuff you just didn't get.
"i.) It’s painfully clear that’s absent on the agenda in the pathetic steps (or lack thereof) taken to keep the ninja sheep content that blindly think brutality somehow suffices as a supplement for substance.
What?"
ninja sheep aka. when people hardcore dance they look like ninja's and sheep meaning those who follow anything that's "brutal" thinking it makes up for lack of actual art.
"ii.) The Palermi trademark formula continues to resonate multilayered high-low sections that meet inserted talking to coherently highlight the most valid points.
Huh."
on every album his vocals are extremely layered with high and low screams and he's known for talking in between them for his most questionable lyrics. you'd have to spin this to get what i'm saying.
"iii.) The slick production is merely the main defining factor in cloaking the illusion of a refreshed vibe.
I'm quite lost."
the production on this record saves it from seeming like the rest but if you take it away it's no different. basically i'm implying the quality of the recording attempts to mask the poor musicianship.
"iii.) When the lackluster closer “Word Of Intulo” winds down all that thrives is another tattered chapter breeding delusional animosity in the pit.
No idea what this metaphorical pit is."
this goes back to the cliche of emmure which are honestly just a breakdown band meant for the pit at shows, meaning mosh pit where kids hardcore dance (ninja sheep)
I'm working on learning to not oversimplify stuff though. It's a habit I need to break because I for some reason view omitting creative descriptives as a lack of being creative but I'll look over the recommendations and hope I cleared up a couple of things.

"If society expected that key ingredient real musicians call progression they’ll get a pinch."
pinch as in pinch of flavor. i'm playing off of the usage of key ingredient. think cooking with good music and progression is the seasoning.

The stuff you just told me...why couldn't that have been in the review instead? I think saying "his vocals are extremely layered with high and low screams" is easier to understand than "The Palermi trademark formula continues to resonate multilayered high-low sections that meet inserted talking to coherently highlight the most valid points."
Simplification can often be a very good trait to have, IMHO.

It's very awkward to read.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like you're using abstract concepts that only you yourself understand. How is one supposed to connect that one is supposed to take "a pinch" of a key ingredient?
Sorry if I sound harsh. This review just could have been a lot better =(

being abstract can lead to an awkward read, so i've learned. i'll take that and improve on downplaying it.

some sentences don't make any sense whatsoever
but yea

You are just telling the truth, Irving. I am suprised you had the patience to address the holes in the review, because it is a whole mess. But it is all right, because no one cares.

i think he used all the big words/complex sentence structure to confuse Emmure fans and scare them away from Sputnik.

Zettel, I've seen you analyze reviews on here before...I would LOVE it if you were to do one of mine sometime (alternatively, you could wait until my next piece comes out). I've always wanted to improve, and your treatment sounds exactly like the kind of kick I need.
|

i understood what you meant andcas, i'm not going to nit-pick. It was a good review, and doesn't need to be perfect to get pos'd. I enjoy when writers are more abstract. They can be both abstract and clear if they write well, which you do most of the time. Don't dumb down your review, just clarify a little maybe idk. Also sorry I know I only have like 65 comments and no reviews, but I do go on this sight a lot and write elsewhere so I hope my opinion is of some value.

Irving:
Sure, if I can be of any help, it would be an honor. I remember reading your The Orb's Metallic Spheres review some time ago, and thought it was good. I would not be surprised if you have improved, since you seem a diligent person. Not a common trait.

the felony is reduced to a misdemeanor but it remains a crime.
So awesome.

Summary made me chuckle. Not sure if that justifies the existence of this band though.
