Maybe I'm just hearing it more in their last two releases but I would still sit on this leaning heavily into a modernized folk bm band. Whatever the case may be, you have once again exposed me to a mediocre band that I'm falling in love with hahahahaha.

But these guys have strong, atmospheric melodies that I simply love. Look at a majority of bm that I listen to and rate highly, it ain't no coinicidence that I would love these guys.

Can someone please point out any folk influences to me in this because I don't hear them.

The acoustics are a good start.

They sound as if they serve the purposes of other influences, I don't get a folk vibe from them.

Fair enough, and I wouldn't say exactly that acoustic guitars equal folk, just for the record. In the case of this, I find that builds created through the acoustics are kind of post-metalish (in vein with newer Agalloch). However, the whole vibe from the bm elements screams folk.

I agree there, and it seems you do think this sounds like Agalloch in a way ;)

Still surprised you like this band so much.

Kind of but they still don't come to mind. And this is growing on me quite a bit, kind of like the new Agalloch did ; ).

Crysis, while there may not be much folk influence on this album (I hear a bit) it was much more prominent on their last.

@ Hawks - "Moonsorrow is much more comparable to a band like Equilibrium"

Yea, no. :P

Uh they're definitely more comparable to them because of their epic and over the top symphonic folk elements and shit like that. This band is much more post-rock oriented.

Moonsorrow are far more interesting with their musicianship and take the slow, but steady route to the peaks of their music unlike Equilibrium who are like the town sluts and give it all away after a few drinks.
