i don't understand the whole "metalcore is dead, just like nu metal"...
explain to me why certain genres of metal are always proclaimed to be 'old and dead' while genres like thrash and death are never going to die, what is the actual logic behind it
and don't say because metalcore is boring, there are manny death albums that bore the hell out of people (obituary, most of cannibal corpse, etc.)
any genre of metal can be well done or poorly done, there's no reason to say metalcore is 'old', it's actually newer than most of the others, which were never exciting enough to captivate more than a small minority of people

People say it's dead or old because nothing is being born from the genre anymore, even good modern bands generally borrow elements from older bands and obviously metalcore has more than quite a bit of shit as well so it makes sense and you should try not to think too hard about it champ

Thrash WAS dead. For awhile. Remember even Slayer did some drop-tune nu-metal stuff during the late 90s. Remember Machine Head. But after nu-metal started declining all bands returned to their roots. Same is with metalcore. It's not dead yet, but most bands are going from melodic metalcore(that peaked 2004-2006...this was when metalcore albums received RIAA certifications for the first time) to some type of deathcore thrash hybrid. No body is really sure what the next trend will be, but we are at a transitional period no doubt about it, man.

That's one of my favorite songs off the album. Jesse definintely rips off Howard in the chorus but it works.

I have to disagree. I couldn't care less what genre of metal the band is playing, the album is just plain good. Really enjoying it.
