The Grand Conjuration maybe could be considered brutal. Not much other than that. I agree that just "heavy" is a much better term for them.

then i guess our definition of brutal just differs.
Leper Affinity ..Bleak ..The Demon of The Fall etc. all seem to fit the definition quite well for me.

I agree with the whole 'brutal' thing, I share GodL1ke's opinion.

There's just something about this that can't hold my attention. It was the second Opeth album I had heard and immediately thought it was fairly boring, and still do. Definitely the weakest Opeth release.

This isnt their weakest at all. Bottom half of their discography yeah, but not the worst.

lol theyre not "light" wtf
|
| |
Bleak isnt light. Its about average heaviness for Opeth. A light song would be Benighted.
|
| |
ffs
Bleak is light
'average Opeth heaviness' isnt heavy at all

you can't call a song with heavy distortion, low growls and tons of dissonance light. especially when opeth has written songs like benighted or credence
|

A song like Demon of the Fall sounds pretty heavy to me. :P
Title track is godlike, they're yet to top this song.

Not a chance, GL is not even the best song on Still Life. That would be The Moor.
