Listening now. It seems like they'll never return to the cool blend of sounds that they had on their debut. This isn't bad, but I'll listen to it on something other than computer speakers before I rate it.

To be honest with you Willie, that sounds consistent with the stuff that the BV3K fans whom I know have told me. That being said, I still find this particular blend enticing; but I guess that those who know the band's discography by heart probably feel that something crucial is missing.

There definitely is something missing. The debut was a tounge-in-cheek collection of electronics, hip-hop, indie, 80s rock and a huge heap of randomness... and it worked really well. If you haven't heard it, you need to.

Anyway, the second album was bad disco funk. It was still fun but it was too predictable. The third release was good electronica/soul/hip-hop, but it was too serious. This one has brought back a bit of the indie feel, but it's still too damn serious and predictable.

Drinking in L.A. just brought memories back of Big Shiny Tunes (were they on the original? or 2? or 3?)

Let's all bask in some good ol' Canadiana

Hahahah damn Willie - you're a hard one to please! This release definitely made me interested in checking things out with BV3K, so I most probably will take a gander at Discosis or Glee next.

Got an inkling of the rating that you're going to give yet? =)

Their first album was just so unique and fun. It's hard to get into the later albums when I know about the debut. In fact, I wonder if I'd even listen to this or their last one if it didn't have the BV3000 name attached.

I'll probably rate it a 3, but I only made it half way through before I decided I wanted to hear it on better speakers so now I'm listening to Fair to Midland.

Erm, let's see...idk, really.

BUT, you know what, this will probably be your best sampler: http://info.audiogram.com/bv3-grace/

It's just the one song, but it pretty much sums up how this album sounds like - you'll be able to comfortably make a decision on whether to check this out or not based on that track alone =) Enjoy!
