Lots of shitty things happen in many countries. The current Malaysian government has, on several occasions, been suspected of repressing political opponents with sodomy charges (sodomy is illegal in the country). Then there's Canada (where I'm studying right now), which - as the Omar Khadr case suggests - apparently disagrees with the Geneva Convention and laws protecting child soldiers against full prosecution. On balance, the harsh treatment of the Wikileaks bloke seems rather mild. It's still egregious though.
