You think the vocals should be more like Amon Amarth? LOL.

actually i agree that low vocals would fit better on here seeing as how this sounds like a ssecond rate opeth

Call me crazy, but I like this album better than Vertebrae. I think the combination of harsh black metal with psychedelia backed behind a solid, crisp production is pretty damn killer in my opinion. All bands can't be the same or carry on the same tradition. It sounded like Enslaved kind of wanted to combine some of their old sound with the sound that they have progressed to before this album. Plus, for Enslaved, I don't think the gutturals would be better for their music. Also, I wouldn't consider them a second rate Opeth.

the intro to waruun has heir apparent written all over it and the main riff to Ethica Odini sounds like a classic opeth riff maybe sped up a bit.

There are more examples but im too lazy to point them out plus i really dont wanna listen to this again right now to catch more

i'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed that rip off haha

also the whole brutal to beautiful to brutal to beautiful aesthetic is taken from Opeth.

Yeah Enslaved are not exactly trying to invent the wheel here.Yet this album is much more appealing to me than Ghost Reveries or Watershed.

Comparing this to Opeth makes you look like an idiot, just saying.

You mean the similarities where Opeth sucks and this is actually good?

Yeah, must have missed those.

Well, the brutal to beautiful to brutal to beautiful is done in other types of metal as well. Opeth have taken more of a 70s progressive style into death metal, where Enslaved have taken more of a psychedelia/pink floyd approach mixed with black metal. Maybe their influences of 60s/70s bands incorporated into their genre makes it somewhat apparent. But I can definitely tell a difference in both bands' sound. A lot of other bands have similar sounding riffs/chord progressions, but obviously they give it their own flavor..depending on the band.

I feel this album doesn't contradict itself, but I can very easily see how someone else could get that vibe.
