Unlike Are You Experienced (which is a collection of individually brilliant but diverse songs), for me, Axis Bold of Love maintains a similar & building vibe throughout. For me, Axis is an album that can be listened to many times in one session, the vibe getting higher & higher. The psychedelia is bright & uplifting (rather than dark or twisted).

I think 'If Six Was Nine' and 'One Rainy Wish' warrant a much higher rating - 5/5. 'If Six' is a masterful vocal performance & One Rainy Wish ends incredibly. 'Wait Until Tomorrow' is an excellent piece of lyrical songwriting and the lesser tracks maintain the building vibe of the album. The guitar solo on Castles Made of Sand may be short but it is a masterpiece.

Wholistically, I rate the album 5/5 (since the poorer tracks such as Ain't No Telling & You Got Me Floating don't do harm to the totality of the album). In summary, you ain't going to hear such music from any other performer.

Little Wing is the greatest guitar song ever probably and the reason I have a Jimi tattoo

Best Hendrix. It's the only one with good flow honestly...

The other 2 have great songs of course, but this one feels the most like it's meant to be listened to as an album.

Electric Ladyland is one of most incredible accomplishments ever put on tape. Very few albums managed to cover so much ground.

Had to check out an album after I watched a very fascinating documentary about Jimi Hendrix yesterday evening on tv, and I chose this one. Great first listen, so far my faves are:

If 6 was 9, Bold As Love, One Rainy Wish, Up From The Skies, Little Wing, Little Miss Lover. But so far every song is great. But the first 3 songs I mention here really blew me away.

I don't have much 60's music (aside from Amon Duul II - Phallus Dei, Pink Floyd, Xhol Caravan, The Velvet Underground, Donovan, Procol Harum and a few more), if it's very old muisc I'm much more a post-punk fanatic but now I think I really should have checked out any Hendrix stuff much earlier, especially as psychedelic music plays a big role on this album, and I love psychedelic stuff (rock AND electronic)
