This is a major disappointment. It's like a slightly heavier, less melodic version of We Are Him. And the production sucks as well. There are moments of moderate brilliance: the 1st half of the opener, fragments of "You Fucking People...", the last minutes of "Eden Prison" and the prayer-like closer (listed them all), but that's not too much for 45 minutes of music. I'll give it one more spin but IMO it sounds average (as in 2.5). I still hope The Seer & To Be Kind kick ass.

"The Seer has resonated with me the most, I love how diverse and all-encompassing it is."
compared to soundtracks the seer sounds like pure monotony

I don't know if I'd go that far, though I can see your point given all the drone, ambient, and electronica Soundtracks has compared to their others.

As good as their latest two - just not as long.

That's making it better honestly. Not as indulgent. I remember enjoying The Seer but it's a bit of a chore length wise. Gotta listen to that again one of these days.

Indulgence is part of what makes The Seer so accomplished. This album is refreshingly accessible for Swans stuff though.

by some weird rationale i always wish this album was better than it actually was because of the album cover alone. same with yes' Drama and Topographical Oceans and Camel's breathless and rain dances.

To me, this exemplifies every part of their sound perfectly. Folky avant weirdness galore!
