@mecca yes, everyone has a slightly different idea of what constitutes a 5, but clearly there’s some
kind of general understanding about its significance because very few people here are actually
fanboyish enough to give a classic rating to an album that has just been released. It’s what makes
Sputnik and RYM’s average ratings more reliable than a site like Amazon’s, although RYM is definitely
better in that regard because it has less users like you and the guy who wrote this review
It’s no coincidence that the majority of the 21 people who’ve already given this a classic rating are
new users who fail to grasp this. From what I’ve seen in the thread for Eno's review, quite a few of
them are just downright retarded so that could explain it too. btw don't bother typing out a huge
response to me because i'm done with this thread

i'm not a new user, i've been here awhile now, at least a few years. i just haven't really used
SputnikMusic all that much, and i probably won't, whence my lack of ratings.
your argument misses the mark already cz it fails even to say why people can't call an album a
"classic" so early. the fact is there is no universal law whereby to rate an album, so arguing
about it is senseless.
and i'm no fanboy. everything i like about this album i have backed up with sound reasoning, and i
could do the same for any other album i happen to consider a "5" or "classic".
but you've already got your last word in, so later man, hope you're not too upset.

yeah that pretty much means you're a new user if you've just started actively using it
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
well i'll never start actively using it. so i guess i'll always be a new user, haha.

Album Rating: 5.0
can't tell whether that's a serious comment. hoping it isn't.

it's hard to take you seriously when your review looks like it was written by a teenage girl who just took acid
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
nice. i'm glad you have such high esteem for the teenage girl (on acid) demographic. i myself
haven't known many to reference Samuel Beckett and John Coltrane in all their Tera Melos reviews.
must not be looking hard enough.
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.5
oh well i'm sure if you try hard enough you'll find a few with the ability to namedrop and write in an incoherent fashion
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
erm.
your highest ratings are Justin Bieber, at a 5, and Maroon 5, at a 4.5. not so sure i can't take you
seriously either, buddy. i don't usually do this, but yes, i'm going to judge you for that.
are you just a troll?
and neither reference was a namedrop. i didn't even say directly the name Coltrane in the review,
and
there was context behind my Samuel Beckett reference, which i used for the rest of the review, which
i'm guessing you haven't even read.
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.5
so because you don't agree with my rating of justin bieber i must be a troll
great logic, bravo
brb gonna review that bieber album and namedrop Dostoevsky in the third paragraph

Album Rating: 5.0
you're 100% right, it goes totally against what i've been saying, and i will be a hypocrite right now.
and it was definitely an attack against your tastes, which is irrational on every level.
but yeah, Justin Bieber and Maroon 5? yeah that's where i draw the line. i have a feeling there may
be some Freudian projection thing behind your calling me a teenage girl on acid.
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.5
no I just reread it and I can assure you that it's a "review looked like it was written by a teenage girl on acid" thing
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Whatever lol. I'm not even gonna argue this with you. It would be about as disastrous as talking about movies with Armond White.

Peace, Mr guitar and Mr bass, I’ll just be over here rocking out a little bit.
Oh it’s cool Mr drums, we should all still listen to each other, and meet up at really cool parts, hit heads yeah.
*** yeah man.
perhaps he is referring to sections such as that

check out my review of Bieber's My World 2.0 tomorrow
it will be around 1900 words in length and will include references to Bitches Brew and Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV. 550 which I feel will be enough to disguise the lack of relevant content

@Eno
Yeah my review was supposed to be goofy and tongue-in-cheek. I thought it would be kind of obvious it's not a seriously
written review when Dorothy and Oz and Narnia and Freddy Kreuger and jizzed napkins and socks and talking
instruments and steel toe boots and metaphorical teeth and Sam Beckett and serial killer musicians all make
appearances. Haha.
Maybe a review written by a cartoon character or a character from a Pynchon novel lol.

Enotron, why can't you just let people rate this whatever they want to? and for all you know, I could have been imprisoned for fifteen years like that asian dude in Oldboy and this was the first thing I listened to? Nah. Jay kay-ing.

wait i was quoting his review what the fuck does that have to do with people's rating

I know, my comment was directed towards something on page 1 or 2, I wasn't really paying attention. Hahaha. Either way, I just wanted to make a reference to Oldboy too.

Regardless of how much I loathe this new direction of theirs, it's better than the radio...
