dude there was a massive ambient/field recordings thread on /mu/ the other day but it was just before I went to bed so I left my PC on so it wouldn't 404 on my ass. When I got up I accidentally closed the thread FUCK.
I downloaded a couple albums before going to bed.

"Two waterproofed contact microphones were frozen inside an approximately 10" x 10" block of ice. The ice was then submerged in water and the entire melting process recorded. No processing has been made to this recording with the exception of minor digital errors being removed."

pretentious.

But also interesting to hear what that sounds like. It doesn't really have any value musically beyond exploring what it sounds like to be within a block of ice while it melts.

I wanna hear what grass sounds like as it grows. Can I leave an audio recorder in my front lawn and then call it field recordings. :D

Do it but make sure to invite Anne Guthrie to play over it so I can give it a 3.5-4

pretentious.

Ugh, you can't just call it “pretentious” like that, because by doing so you're assuming the

intentions of the artist. I don’t know that the artist was attempting to impress, I think he sincerely

thought he was making an interesting sound experiment (which it is). Unless you've read extensive

interviews of the artist to understand his motivation, please stfu :D
