the album one is the one i was talking about, but i have a FLAC rip of versions if you cant find it anywhere else.

all versions are amazing though, even thought versions is the better of the two albums if not only because of final track

this is album is like the aural representation of the t1000

dripping, oozy, thick, self-aware liquid metal

yahh, definitely self-aware. i like the fact that, for the most part, this sounds like 20 different experiments collected onto a single album, yet manages to sound cohesive despite the diversity

the only problem i have with this so far is it feels like a lot of the songs cut off before they really have time to fully develop

i don't think i'd really ever picked up on that in their other albums but that'd explain why i love exai so much

its jarring at first yeah but it all starts to make sense after a while. thats why this album gets called an "experiment" a lot (as if all their albums weren't experiments), but it really does offer a unique approach to a already heavily established style.

let this sink in and then listen to versions (usually called quaristice.quadrange.ep.ae). its most of the motifs present on this album just explored in longer tracks. its equally as good as this, especially perlence subreange 6-36 (which is the definitive autechre ambient track)

i will say though that just after one listen it clearly covers the most ideas and styles out of any of their albums that i've heard, i could easily see it becoming one of my favorites for that reason

definitely. that's why i love it, there's such a wide range of sounds and emotions being explored here. i also love how it transitions from song to song without fades and any indication of the song ending, yet manages to sound smooth and natural nonetheless.
