Went to see him last week... He had been to a friend's funeral that morning, so he played a few songs solo that he normally doesn't play (and he played long live the queen as a fast-paced rock song, which kicked ass). It was the best I've ever seen him play, absolutely fantastic. Setlist:

I Am Disappeared
The Road
One Foot Before the Other
Long Live The Queen
Glory Hallelujah
Reasons Not To Be An Idiot
Time Machine (New Song)
A Love Worth Keeping
Wessex Boy
Substitute
The Real Damage (Solo)
Hold Your Tongue (Solo)
Father's Day (Solo)
Isabel
I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous
Peggy Sang the Blues
Four Simple Words
Try This At Home
I Still Believe

Encore:
Cowboy Chords (New Song)
If Ever I Stray
Photosynthesis
Dan's Song

I want to say "oh, wish he played _____ during his set" but Frank's the kind of guy where if he played every song you wanted him to play he'd pretty much run through his whole discography.

Yeah exactly, there's at least a couple I would have wanted him to play, but I was more than happy with the ones he played, and the acoustic solo ones were so emotional, he sounded like he was about to cry

Yeah I saw him on that tour. It was great as expected but I've seen him better. I think the problem was familiarity as much as anything. You can't tour as often as he does without a little overkill.

I dunno, maybe I'd have thought that if this gig hadn't have seemed so personal to him. He essentially just came on and asked us to help cheer him up after a shitty day... Kind of seemed to add an extra dimension to the evening, and I'm usually understandably cynical about "YEEEEAH GUYS, YOU'RE THE BEST NIGHT SO FAR" comments etc, but it was different. He just came on, said he had a shitty day and started playing.

Ugh why haven't I seen him yet! He played last year and I missed out for whatever reason and a few months ago he was here with the Dropkick Muprheys who i'm not really that much of a fan of...

I missed him with Dropkick Murpheys as well, unfortunately. Still haven't seen him live, but I'm seeing him at Pukkelpop in August, can't wait!
