One thing I can safely say is that Latimer figures among my top 3 fav prog guitarists (flutes too), but his vocals are most of the time...decent (imho yup).

he's a great writer, I love every melody that he writes whether it be a flute line or a guitar riff. He's a really interesting musician.

Latimer's vocals kept on improving from album to album. On Moonmadness, his vocals are pretty awesome.

Even though he's not a great vocalist ability-wise, he really uses his voice well for the music. After all, singing is not about ability alone. It's how you present it. Jimi Hendrix couldn't sing, but he made his voice work for his music.
