Probably the most perfect album I've ever heard. I can't get my head around how they manage to make the guitar and keyboard duo so perfect.

So, they finally decided to re-release this album again, but with a new remix that sounds really bad to my ears. Drums sounds plastic and the guitar tone feels very weak. Any opinions?

Hi Kusangii,
I'm very sorry you didn't like the new approach on this re-visited release. Please note nothing has been re-recorded, nor overdubbed... only the original audio files were used to this new release of such a musical masterpiece. The approach on the re-mix was to shine on the fantastic drum parts that in the original mix were hidden behind all the density of the arrangements. Yes, you're maybe partially right regarding the drum sound, considering the original drums were fake too (midi drums), as the new ones... but was not possible to segregate the original drum parts bleeding printed on several of the original audio tracks (sourcing from midi drum sounds), and this limit us to a proper use of this audio tracks to make real enhancements. Agreed on the lack of a major improvement on getting this more "organic". The initial "dream" of the band was to re-record (for real) all the drum parts and some of the guitar riffs, but schedule forced us to do not be able to re-record anything. From the decision to the release requested by the label, to the delivering of the re-mix / re-master, we only had 2 weeks. We were in a hurry!. Back to re-mix: we intentionally put also the guitars more on the back of the mix, and not in your face as in the original mix. We also intentionally soften them to be less agressive on the whole arrangement and let shine on all the nuances of the integrity of the musical arrangements as a whole. Please note that the main request from the creators of the album, was to enhance a better cohesion within all the musical elements of each of the songs. And another band's request was to give such a tridimensionality that in the original mix they considered was missed. All that being said, please Kusangii, make an objective comparison between both version and let me know your real thoughts. I feel bad for your disappointment. Looking forward to hear from you.

You definitely should, this album grows on you the more you listen to it. Their other albums are excellent too, but this is obviously their highlight

A couple of months ago I listened to Spiritual Migration but I liked only a few tracks while I didn't appreciate it that much in its
entirety.
Gonna check out their other albums soon to make a better comparison in the end. Anyway great review, pos'd

I can understand why people don't like Spiritual Migration since it's so different, personally I had to give it a lot of listens to fully appreciate it. I think Shin-Ken would appeal to you more though, it's more like this album.
