I feel like I would think a lot of these songs were so-so if they were by some random band but there's some quality about this album that makes them really good. Gonna bump this.

well it's like you don't really know who's doing what. it's hard to hear what's sparklehorse and what is dangermouse, plus all the features had a role in songwriting. all of that seems to culminate in one huge production. each feature feels like an acting role or some kind of monologue(especially vic chesnutt and wayne coyne).
