rowan my school didn't even call them "holidays" for us, they called the time "non-contact study periods"

i think it was sort of meant to be ironic but it wasn't

my gf is currently suffering through one of those famed "non-contact study periods" atm. I really feel for her and everyone else in the same sitsh.

@os I would but its dark and very seedy at this time of night
@Lloyd That's actually incredibly stupid
Like this is meant to be the one holiday period where, being in Y12, we wouldn't have homework and could just relax for two weeks
But the English department seems to have decided that its so much more important than all the other subjects and given me two LARGE books to read and a short story to write in this relaxing period of time
fucking I hate this

if you sit down and get to it you should be able to read those fairly quickly (depending how long you
define as long and how quick a reader you are). I understand your frustration though.

Its not the time I'm annoyed about, I know I can read them within the two weeks its just I think it's really stupid that only the English department is allowed to give us work and no-one else

they probably justified it by the reasoning that reading books is a pastime activity for a lot of people ^^.

One of them is Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and the other is Frank Herbert's Dune. Not bad texts by any means.

oh that doesn't sound bad at all. been meaning to read Herbert's Dune as well. at least none of those clock in at a 500+ pages per tome.
