just saying this heat didn't have the wide influence that king crimson did, but both were the best examples of the genre in it's first form i guess i disagree, both bands are way more leftfield in respective genres to be considered "the best example". i'd say that pink floyd (maybe) and joy division are the best examples overall.

the blue album's danger ("Horizontal Hold", "24 Track Loop") and tragedy ("Not Waving", "Twilight Furniture") are much more convincing. this is a lot cheaper in its methods, lacks the clarity of the debut, has less variety and, compared to Blue, it almost feels like a typical post-punk record.
