this year has been good enough elsewhere that the couple big disappointments didnt phase me too much. much better than last year, which had some unexpected gems, but also was responsible for the largest quantity of let downs from good artists in a year in recent memory

Just checked it

Extrasolar was okay, but forgettable. He's going for that "genuinely happy finally" tone and I guess he's better at sounding depressed

That's kind of depressing in itself...

I still like Out though

he has some pretty fucking gleeful songs on this and its his best album... obsidian and the ep were the darkest and were still alright. this just sounds like he forgot to put away his whimsical geotic persona after recording Abysma, and got stuck writing a baths instrumental album with vocals that make all the songs sound like the Geotic soundtrack to a lighthearted webseries about two gay bff's living together and getting into all sorts of mischief like the Actually Smiling video.

and thats cool for him and all if thats what he wants to do but i personally find the fanciful and wondrous tone to be super awkward.

like the vocals genuinely make me feel embarrassed to listen to the songs without headphones....

"The Gay and Wonderous Life of Caleb Gallo"

I tried watching that once and a character said he was going to be bi because it was hip, so I turned it off

I still need to check that out, but I can't find a torrent for it and I'm too stubborn to give in and use Spotify lol
