this does have some amazing moments, but Sketches and Johnson have been my faves for a while now.

Sketches may be his best in terms of composition, but that has a lot to do with Evans. Johnson is great but very raw, so I would say, of the ones I've heard (because we're all forgetting a few, including Filles de Kilimanjaro)
Sketches > In a Silent Way > Kind of Blue > Johnson
but they're all very different so that changes a lot.

id say a love supreme and black saint beat anything miles has done, and apart from this album, all his work with wayne shorter is probably his best. im still a coltrane man through and through though.
buuut then you have to factor in guys like andrew hill, sam rivers, joe henderson, wayne shorter, then all the avant/free stuff too...

Yeah, he's recorded with some world-class players.

I don't really understand...I'm not a huge fan of most of the second quintet albums (yet), except for Miles Smiles, but I love Shorter's stuff on Blue Note from the same era.
This is my favourite album to put on before I sleep. If I'm really tired, then I just play the title track.
