These guys married the songwriting of Maiden with the steamrolling
of 70's Priest. Blending the best of both worlds, they made unique
metal.
I'm loyal to the Priests, but having said that, this beats everything they
did post-SC for me. My opinion though.
The riffs and leads on here are completely different from those on 70's
Priest though. The leads feel a lot more neoclassical and the riffs more
sophisticated.

if someone asked me generally who the best metal band was i would probably say mercyful fate
|
| |
Range wise, Diamond is probably the most versatile vocalist ever
|
| |
Well this and DBtO are top-notch metal anyway, so I can't blame anyone for thinking they're the best things metal ever saw.
It all comes down to personal taste.

| |
Having said that, this has some of the tightest songwriting in metal history.
I'd even say it has a bit of a Floyd-esque flow to it.

While I won't go into my personal views on KD's vox, I wouldn't have picked anyone else for this album. His vocal switches fit the dynamics on here to a T.

Dem riffs man, dem riffs.
There are plenty of those in here, but it all comes down to Demon Bell.

Sounds evil

Some of the tightest songwriting on an album ever.
Need to jam it hard this week so I can 5 it.
|

Busy with Motorhead atm.
|
| |
Hmm. They prob take a bit more effort to get into than Priest or Maiden, but Overkill is a pretty sweet album.
I'm finishing it atm.

Overkill rules hard agreed. One of the best '70s albums and Motorhead released Bomber in the same year!
