This album reminds me a lot of 'Altars of Madness', especially with the swung feel they have on several of the songs. They do seem to be able to create quite an eerie and weird atmosphere, obviously inspired by Lovecraft themes heavily.
The review was not great, this album really is good and talking about it in terms of its speed "380bpm" and complexity only, does not do it justice. Those are just factors that add up to the whole picture, they don't make the album good.
