I do find Onward more enjoyable overall, but this is still an untouchable beast

If we're being completely honest, these are the only 3 albums that matter.

Unpopular opinion though: I love them all, but Close To a World Below > Dawn of Possession >> Here In After.

The unpopular part comes from me ranking DoP higher than HIA; I always get opposition to that, and I don't know why. Here In After has Here In After, Away From God, Under the Supreme, and Christ's Cage as standouts. Dawn of Possession has Into Everlasting Fire, Despondent Souls, Those Left Behind, Internal Decadence, No Forgiveness Without Bloodshed, After My Prayers, and Fall in Disease as standouts.

Dawn of Possession is like a more stripped down, more straight OSDM version of Close to a World Below. Here In After is great in itself, but is like the weird bastard stepchild that is somewhat in between that takes the good parts of both, but doesn't do either part as well. This makes sense too, because they were trying to move away from the more straight OSDM of DoP to "find their sound", which they would fully achieve on CtaWB.

Never been too big on Dawn of Possession. I listen to that album the least aside from a couple of the weak ones in the 00s

Here in After > Close to a World Below > Dawn of Possession > Unholy Cult > Failures for Gods

then the rest in whatever order, with Majesty... nudging the top

Some days I like this better than other days, but that’s true of virtually all DM thus far. Weird. Only Death albums & about 3 other records seem immune.

"Here in After > Close to a World Below > Dawn of Possession > Unholy Cult > Failures for Gods"

Pretty much correct imo but I'd flip CtaWB and Dawn on some days.
