and its only grown stronger as this band has got more and more undeserved attention and recognition

It would be hard to convince anyone who has any knowledge of death metal that Cannibal Corpse isn't a pillar and an early driving force of the genre, thus making them a classic to the genre. My 5s are my favorite Corpse albums, and I have every right to that opinion.

they're literally the most generic, boring and derivative band in the genre and the fact that they're the most popular makes my stomach churn when bands like incantation, gorguts, dismember etc exist



death released the album leprosy in 1988 making this band redundant before they even began

Early Cannibal Corpse has some good stuff, though I really barely listen to the Corpse. Definitely not a bad band, I just think other classic DM acts created a few more "interesting" (don't know how to put it) albums

Cannibal Corpse aren't *that* generic either. As I said they actually did some really cool stuff on their early records. Eaten Back to Life is one of the best death metal albums ever.

I'm not familiar enough with their later work but I can't name a single band that sounds anything like 'Bloody Chunks' for example.

Also the whole "I was alive before you" argument is the most redundant one there is. I've seen people older than you around for more important moments than you be even more ignorant. Just simply having heard something first doesn't actually make you qualified for knowing better.
