Yeah it's an acquired taste. I don't even think Jeff is a good singer, but like Bob Dylan he's managed to let his songwriting capabilities completely override that fact

Honestly if I allowed my opinion of vocals to affect my enjoyment of an album as a whole there would be SO much music I couldn't listen to
These guys, Megadeth, Bob Dylan, Agalloch, Nine Inch Nails, Modest Mouse, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Tallest Man On Earth, the Pixies... I could go on.

I don't always love them, but I've learned not to allow them to get in the way. There's so much to this album beyond the vocal performance that I don't even think about it anymore

wait how do you not let vocals that you dislike affect your rates? do you just overlook them? for me, when vocals are really irritating, it sometimes hampers my ability to enjoy the music altogether.

Honestly when I'm listening to music I just latch on to the things I do appreciate and don't dwell on the things I don't. If something bothers me at first, I generally get used to it pretty quickly. That's how it was with this album.
