This is one of the most perplexing albums I've ever listened to, and I'm surprised so many enjoy it.
It's inherently disorganized and chaotic in the worst way, the vocals are rather whiny, and the songwriting is just all over the place in terms of quality.
This was just a really poor experience for me in all honesty.

what's disorganized about it? it's just a bunch of indie folk songs connected by some extra environmental sounds. the vocals are an acquired taste yes but they suit the music and the words perfectly.

I will agree that they suit the music quite well; but when the music for me is inherently lackluster it's not a nice combination. The horns in the song just as an example seem to come out of nowhere and do nothing for me but to distract from some rather catchy melodies. It just seems with this album that every nice little idea they have going gets sidetracked.

This album is a musical miracle.

i get where you're coming from, but it's always been a really full, compact experience for me. the horns are just adding harmony, i couldn't imagine them not being there tbh. i have heard the album a million times, but yeah haha definitely get it appearing lackluster too, the songs themselves are really simple. but they transcend for me, the same way as the simplest Beatles tunes

His voice on Two Headed Boy is purely unrestrained emotion, and so is most of the songs.

I'll probably give it another listen just to see if something that's missing in my listening of the album clicks.

Which song are you talking about? Multiple songs use horns. I cant think of any song where they "come out of nowhere" anyways. I dont see the songwriting as "sidetracked", i think all the little extra things they add throughout the songs are part of what makes this album interesting and the instrumentation would be pretty bland without them. I dont see the horns as "distracting" either, they just add another layer to the music. Its not hard to pay attention to both, its not like theres ever a lot going on at once on this album.

Heard this is even better then Death Grips in the meme department, I'm intrigued.

This album is horrid. What kind of freak even has an obsession with a fabricated jewish girl and her fabricated story. I hope in the future all trace of this album is eradicated from history and in human memory.

Idk one day I was bored and watched this 10 minute video of Fantano complaining about how the internet has completely turned this album into a meme and it was real ironic since he loves Death Grips so much.
