It just seems like the most natural comparison for most people to make when talking about alternative/metal female vocalists is Evanescence (even if the link is very weak). It wouldn't really be an issue in most cases except I think it puts people off before they ever hear that it's barely even the case.

Just reminds me of when I called All I Wanted from Paramore's latest album "Evanescence-esque" and Chan flipped ;) hahaha

Yeah. You should have compared it more to a poppier Tsumani Bomb, not Evanescence ;)

Judging by Thera's debut LP 'If This is the End', the Alaskan outfit have a very bright future. Playing a unique blend of post-hardcore, gothic-metal & hard-rock, the quintet are spearheaded by distinctive lead vocalist Stephanie Plate. The raw production may polarize many (Plate & the backing screams often sound out of key), yet it all adds real vulnerability to the mix... This is enhanced by some captivatingly haunting piano melodies in amongst the metallic guitar riffs & leads. The 3 best tunes are the longest, allowing Thera to showcase their tempo-switching diversity. Recommended Tracks: The Aftermath, The Earth and The Air, If I Lose Heart & The Chase.
