Though their creative peak was undoubtedly Angel Dust, there’s an elegance and control on this album and Sol Invictus that I reaaally like. Even if the song in question is a straightforward Patton-yelping rocker, the performances are wonderfully precise, with nary a note out of place. Slightly cringe comparison, but it reminds me of Radiohead or even Talk Talk at times, simply in how economically and deliberately they paint a sonic picture
