"They're horrible"
I should have expected you to not give any solid reasoning.

I actually think that the Great Misdirect is my favorite BTBAM record these days, but this record started it all. m/

I never liked it. This and colors are the best.

I think this has a lot more transitions I just can't dig compared to Colors or TGM or even Parallax II.
I mean it's spazzy as hell as all their releases but the really cool bits here imho are much more sparsed.
This did though start it all, just in retrospective I can't enjoy it more than all their other releases which improved the Alaska formula. Although dem breakdowns here man

Colors has more want though and sometimes a break in between the songs go a long way to make listening easier

I still jerk it to the Selkies solo

Do you even Backwards Marathon

Album Rating: 3.5
It's still pretty annoying in parts, especially in All Bodies where it's riffing hard and just switches to pure queff hard.
T/t, Selkies, Backwards Marathon, Croakies and Laser Speed all rule though.

The Primer too

It's those really out of place cleans man, there's some solid riffs on that track but when Tommy's cleans are bad they are almost unbearable.

the chorus you mean? i think the chanting/clean vox work really well there tbh
tommy's highs in the primer are ughh so good

That's what's so annoying, he's so inconsistent as a vocalist.

he was at his peak here imo. he had the black metal highs, the death growls, the croons, and everything in between down pat
idk why on colors his screaming versatility went out the window
|

Album Rating: 4.5
His screaming is a hell of a lot better than his clean vocals at least.
The latter of which is really keeping me from enjoying the new record, but the screams sound different too.

he's just singing too much on the new one, and he doesnt have the chops to craft melodies on top of that kind of music
his screams do sound more raw on the new album than on previous ones yeah
