After Crying is on my rym wishlist, Jethro, but I haven't gotten to them yet. Listening to everything on my wishlist is like trying to chop the heads off a hydra :]

After Crying is too much diverse and less bombastic to sound exclusively like ELP. They only flirt with Elp from time to time in a more subtle way. After Crying explore the classical side of the equation. ELP is more (too) powerful and they are more Rock n Roll than purely classical. You don't have to dig ELP to appreciate After Crying.

Their first two would be a pretty good start, Meat. Here is the track that made me fall in love with the band.

Gotcha Friday ;) Get on them asap. Start here;

"About the Hungarian band After Crying, you must listen to them. The guys are great. They create an extremely complex and moody music. There is a huge variety of styles in their music. Some times is dark, yet beautiful with a clam atmosphere, other has a more consistent sound. Probably the most known influence are ELP, mainly on the Hammond passages. You must listen them really."

I'll probably give them a listen at some point, although from what I've gathered in this thread I have a feeling they may not be particularly suited to my taste in prog.

@Jamie, After Crying sometimes can be embarassing when they go too much randomly to some forced Symphonic Rock and they forget about their basic classical sounding. I deplore when they include a boring solo from each instruments in a row, or when the music and the vox drag, but when they do what they are known for, i.e. whether classical music in a rock or in a pure classical context in the first place, it's a real delight. I confess my ex girl friend hated them to death. It depends what you hear by them at first. They are a hit or miss I guess. Personally, they bring me joy, even if it can be sad and dark.

Your question is a bit indiscreet ;) I'll answer by saying I'm among the oldest users. Is it sufficient?
