Yep, LG = Life's Good. I gotta admit, now that I have finished the reveiw, I'm starting to take off my critical hat & really enjoy 'Destryr/Destryr'.
Thanks Ali. Hope you like it.

"Apart from the real nifty bass-work, what did you like about 'Sunshine'?"
The lyrics, mostly, because I know what walking away from a person who once made you happy and then tore you up inside feels like.
That along with that simple, yet pleasant chord progression on the pre-chorus and the understated guitar lead.

Great review DaveyBoy. Never really liked these guys, not even back when I was real into nu metal but I used to play Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja with one of my earlier bands.

Damn Davey, really? I'm writing a review on this after my exams are finished, at the moment I'm thinking 2.5/3.
I really appreciate some additions, bass and drum have improved substantially and the general awesome of Dstryr/Dstryr+Atro City, but I don't know. Nothing else hits me, it seems to all be Ian Watkins melancholy wanna-be meaningful bull**** with brief glimpses of good musicianship.
Then again, you disagreed with my SS rating of 3.5 too, so each to his own.

Gyro, that Trophy Scars song was pretty darn good. Vocals could take a while getting used to, but nothing too bad. Why do I get the impression it could be a little misrepresentative of the rest of the album though?
"The lyrics, mostly, because I know what walking away from a person who once made you happy and then tore you up inside feels like. I will admit that I listened to that & AC Ricochet less than the rest as (a) I got them separately from the rest, and (b) I don't believe they will be on most versions of the album.
I don't know what to say Conor... Apart from thanks on the review. I get teh impression it won't be enough to sway you.

The singer in this band is the epitome of douchebaggery

@ Davey
Sorry, man /sadface
The review would certainly sway anyone ever so slightly less stubborn than myself
Though I will admit that I don't find the album totally unlistenable.

"Damn Davey, really?" Yep, really.
"...the general awesome of Dstryr/Dstryr+Atro City..." Right there says it all DirEnRefused... You like the heavier stuff. Fair enough too... You won't be the only one.
In a way, I don't classify it as melancholy. There's a fair bit of "us against the world" in there sure, but there's a couple of uplifting songs (which I'm certain you hate) & even when they're angry, it seems positive to me... I don't think melancholy is the correct word you're looking for.

"The singer in this band is the epitome of douchebaggery" Douchebaggery is not in my dictionary, so I cannot comment. Hehe.

I'm growing fonder of AC Ricochet with every listen. Nothing particularly new or original about the two songs, but they're fairly catchy.
Tell me how that goes ;)

"i can't stop laughing at the album cover." 2 things on that. Firstly, I don't find it too bad. But... I don't think it's the actual album cover. The other one I have seen is much more basic & doesn't have their ugly mugs on it.
"I'm growing fonder of AC Ricochet with every listen. Nothing particularly new or original about the two songs, but they're fairly catchy." On the few listens, I preferred AC Ricochet. Nothing special & probaly made the 2nd half of the LP sound a little repetitive when placed in its order. I'm not surprised they left it off for that reason.

Hmmm, most likely you're right and it's just I've been spoiled by Glassjaw since LT haha.

Yeah... And remember that these guys are/were heavily influenced by the likes of Faith No More, Refused & Glassjaw, so I guess I can see why you are disappointed to some extent.

Well, to show you further what the album sounds like, here is the best song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUAN_C6lY9g
The lyrics and instrumentation are the high points of this album, and while I do think the vocals are an acquired taste, I thoroughly enjoy them. I think the album is very consistent and has a similar feel to Anna Lucia.

That was a bit more... ummm... interesting... But I didn't mind it. Sort of reminds me of RX Bandits' Mandala, but a touch heavier & the vocals aren't quite as good.
