well kiss and make up plz!!!!! I dont think that billy hated jimmy because he formed zwan with him................who broke up because billy said that his heart lied in the pumpkins. How about melissa? the had only known her for one year pretty much. James and billy started off as a duo carreer, so theyve known each other for a while and D'arcy quit so i guess she didnt like them. Considering the way the music comes together, im surprised that they hated each other

yeah but Billy's ego and over-crediting by the fans drove him and James farther apart. James said in an interview, with a very aggravated voice, that too many people fail to realise there are other members to the band besides Billy.

and about D'arcy, according to Billy she was a "mean spiritted drug-addict". and plus, her and james had trouble, because during the making of Siamese Dream they broke up.

and all though Billy and Jimmy are at terms now, the band got pretty pissed at him after that heroin binge.

hmm... i see. Does billy have a fan mail adress? if so we can bombard him with letters saying plz come back together. But i guess we have his solo career to look foward to and considering he made siamese dream pretty much by himself then thats good. I can understand james statement, but i when i listened to their cd, i pictured the pumpkins all playing. Each has their own special talent which should b recognised.

i would have to disagree with some songs:
Today deserves 5/5 and quiet deserves at least 4/5, there is no SP song like it.

My favourites are Soma, then Hummer, then mayonaise.

Soma is probably my favourite pumpkins track ever, just edging out porcelina, thru the eyes of ruby, snail and rhinocerus

Brilliant album. Rock fans could certainly do worse than to pick up a copy of this album. It fries the mind.

Nice review, pretty solid cd. IMO, this cd deserves easily a 4/5. Brilliant dynamics and mellow melodies are what makes the album enjoyable.

The thing about The Smashing Pumpkins that I just don't appreciate is; I just can't give the same respect to all of their songs. They seem to have some hits and misses everytime. Billy Corgan manages to make these a really unnecessary topic when analyzing his music; and I do think he is some kind of genius.

Finally, I must add, this cd is highly inspirational.

I like the song Today, and I think this is a great album, and it was even made before billy corgan went bald.

if i could delete that post i made before i would: heres my review i posted elsewhere:
(Its not like full review, its a bit short)
Alternative Rock - Siamese Dream – Smashing Pumpkins
Well, this is my favourite album of all time, so I will try not to be too bias. But honestly speaking, most of these songs deserve 5/5. Now don’t instantly dismiss it as bias. Just listen to it. For a similar non bias review check out http://www.musicianforums.com/sputnik/album.php?albumid=348.

One of the most influential albums of all time and voted the second best of the 90’s in the alternative/Grunge catagory (Next to Nevermind)

So at this point in time the band consisted of:
Bill Corgan – Vocals, guitar
James Iha – Guitar, back up vocals
D’arcy Wretzky – Bass
Jimmy Chamberlain – Drums

1. Cherub Rock
2. Quiet
3. Today
4. Hummer
5. Rocket
6. Disarm
7. Soma
8. Geek USA
9. Mayonnaise
10. Spaceboy
11. Silverf*ck
12. Sweet Sweet
13. Luna

1. Cherub rock
The opener was a toss up between Today and this song. Although I prefer Today, Cherub Rock is a better opener. Starting with a build up, it explodes into stadium rock about living life, being a rock star and standing up for what you believe in. A good solo in there, although the lyrics are quite simple.
Good Track 4/5

2. Quiet
Although one of my favourite tracks of all time, there are better songs. Don’t get me wrong, this is a GREAT song though. Starts with a few slides down the neck and then a drum fill, and smack! Right into the song. A good flowing riff delivers fight style music sure to please most fans of the genre. Includes two solos, the latter being my favourite. A really good song which I want to give 5/5 but it gets a
4/5

3. Today
Possibly the best Smashing Pumpkins song ever and easily the most popular. A simple sarcastic song Billy wrote when he was depressed:
“Today is the greatest day I’ve ever known, can’t wait for tomorrow, I might not have that long, ill burn my eyes out, before I get out”
A simple hook parodying an ice cream truck leads to the main riff, which is really catchy. The chorus is the strongest part of the song, in a minor tone. Definitely
5/5

4. Hummer
The second longest song on the album, which goes for 7 minutes or so. Really epic song, with some GREAT guitar skills shown by James and Billy. Starts off sitar like then into the stinging riff. Some of the best lyrics on the album and It has a quiet ending which I enjoy. Its about trying and failing, then trying to succeed.
5/5

5. Rocket
Another great song which follows well from Hummer. A song about freedom with a droning riff. It has two different choruses and some great octave shifting work. The line “I shall be free” is repeated a lot and carries a good message about taking responsibility for your own actions. A happier song on the album.
5/5

6. Disarm
The ballad of the album uses an acoustic guitar. There are no drums, just large church bells. Another one of the Smashing Pumpkins greatest hits. The lyrics are moving, about how Billy is no longer a child and that he can take care of himself, without anyone worrying about him. This track uses an orchestra with some great violin work here. Definitely a
5/5

7. Soma
Another epic great from the album. Superb lyrics about how Billy is all by himself, and that he is independent. Starts off slow and mysterious for a few minutes then literally explodes into the chorus, then the rest of the song is in distortion. A sure crowd pleaser, as it was on the Earphoria (Smashing pumpkins live) cd. The crowd is singing along. A really high powered song is also included in this song. A great rocking song
5/5

8. Geek USA
This song is probably the fastest and hardest track on the album, originally called Suicide Kiss. It has some amazing guitar work which sounds fantastic. The lyrics are about pretending that horrible things aren’t happening in the world, as it seems. Its about getting away from it all. Some great Bass and Drum work here as well. A really solid track. It’s also kind of epic in a way.
5/5

9. Mayonnaise
Written by James, this is the stand out song of the album and my favourite song of all time. Starts off with some emotional guitar work that bursts into the riff, that is just….beautiful…? There is really no other way to describe it. So emotional but it’s good kind of EMO. It’s really about trying to get away from what you have. I have NO IDEA why it is called mayonnaise but.
Easily a
5/5

10. Spaceboy
This song is a let down from the fantastic Mayonnaise. Its slow and about Billy’s brother. There’s some talking at the end of the track but don’t try and work out what they’re saying. Not really much else to say here.
3/5

11. Silverfuck
Another epic song, which is the longest track here, I think it goes for 8 minutes or longer. It is fast which is about not being good enough. Actually some really good lyrics and a VERY symbolic line here, the sing song “Bang bang, you’re dead, hole in your head.” Being repeated. That line is about how people act, they shoot first and ask questions later. Very good song if not boring at times. The simple bass stands out here and a massive breakdown at the end.
5/5

12. Sweet Sweet
Pretty much a 1 minute filler, although catchy. It leads well into Luna, it almost sounds sing song like here. Not much else to say.
3/5

13. Luna
Flows Very well from Sweet Sweet. A slow love song but not sappy at all. An enjoyable melodic piece with some relaxing feel to it, almost like a lullaby. It finishes of my favourite album really well and it I love it. It’s no disarm however.
4/5

Well that sums up a magnificent album. If you are a fan of Alternative Rock, you should buy it as your first Smashing Pumpkins album. The reason Billy wrote pretty much all the songs here was because the band was suffering due to James and D’arcy’s break up. At this stage the band was about to break up, but fortunately, they went on to record the double helping Melloncollie and the Infinite Sadness. My second favourite Smashing Pumpkins album.

Overall this album gets a 5/5 or a 95%

Why is this album so great!?
The songs are different to other work by the pumpkins, as each album has its own genre-gish has its grungey guitars, adore has its gothic mysteriousness, machina has its abitious and epic progressive sound and then this album is just..beautiful

I cant really put the songs on this album in the order of how much i like them but today, hummer, and geek usa are definaltley masterpeices of alt rock.
