And on a side note, I will most likely not try to scream/growl like Trevor anymore. I had "A Vulgar Picture" playing really loud in my car today and tried to scream right along with him. And since I don't know how to do that properly, my throat keeps feeling like there is phlegm or something in there. Big mistake, but it was still fun.
I really wish I could scream like him, or at all for that matter.

You know, there are two reasons why I keep posting on this review:
1. I am posting, but no one responds, so I keep trying.
2. I really like "A Vulgar Picture". So feel free to comment on this and the three previous posts I have made.
So in yet another attempt to revive a little discussion in this thread, I will try again:
I have to say, if someone wants to hear "A Vulgar Picture" for the first time, I would recommend watching the music video for it. Afterward, you most likely have frazzled hair and need a minute or 10 to recuperate; it is intense.

This is a brutal record, and some of the songs are even catchy, but the album just never grew on me. I've listened to it at least twice through, and all it did was get more repetitive...

I think I shall review this very soon.

I just watched the for A Vulgar Picture, and unfortunately, it didn't do anything to change my opinion on these guys. They're one of the most painfully average bands I've ever heard. Trevor Strnad also has the worst death metal growls in metal. It really bothers me that Americans seem completely incapable of making melodic death without adding that overdone American/metalcore sound.

I like his screaming, especially the death screech he does. Plus, the drumming is good IMO.

The instrumental work is good, as is Trevor's high scream. My only complaint with that would be the death growls like I said before, plus the guitarists are pretty awful soloists. The band has a distinctive sound and I'd no doubt like them a hell of a lot if they didn't seem to rewrite the same song 10 times for every album.

I can see that. I am just really fixated on "A Vulgar Picture". Instrumentally and lyrically, I think it is written very well.

Awesome. Amazing band, I can't get enough of this band. I've seen them live 4 times (the last backstage at DirtFest). Always spectacular. A lot of people hate this band (I think its comparable the way people hated the early 90's Dallas Cowboys), but whatever. For me they are the absolute best.
Yes they did get a new drummer, Pierre. Saw him at Dirt Fest, unbelievable. He literally played with the perfection of a trigger-loaded album recording.

Is this album, better than their earlier release?

I agree with ShadowsFallen on this band. The drumming and the high screams are really good but, the death metal vocals are horrid and the guitars dont do anything interesting at all.

I like the vocals quite a bit. And the guitarists do some cool things.

I just thought this album was average. i dunno nothing seemed epic or important. i couldn't feel any passion to make me wanna get in a pit or anything. Maybe I'll like thier next one more. It was ok just not fantastic. U make it seem like Dahlia is like the darkest band out there

Great review, i loved how you painted the picture of how brutal this album is. These guys are really, really talented and the music is good, however I have seen them live a few times, most recently at Dirt Fest, and they are jaw dropping live. Definately one of the best live metal bands I have ever seen.

Dave Goes TO Hollywood is the best song by far This album IMO is better than Unhallowed because it showcaes more of the death metal side to their music than the melodic metal side

Shadows!!! No!!! How could you? These guys and the Red chord are killing the style of music right now with BTTBAM better than any band i can think of
