TheSmilingCreep: I know, right? I mean honestly, I'm no better than they are! I love the album myself! I must be an indie douche!

But really, the first paragraph was simply my way of saying that early reviews that I made of this album had me looking at it as "very averagem really overrated." And of course, if you're the kind of person described in the first paragraph, it's gonna be hard to ignore it. Sorry if I offended you, but take it with a laugh. Even Pitchfork reviewers admit their faults (in an interview for Slanted and Enchanted I believe).

Planewreck: Yes, what a surprise! Pitchfork was (mostly) right on the money about this album! Now, explain their 0/10 for Zaireeka without actually listening to the album the right way, and I'll maybe start to mend the wounds between me and their community (Or optionally, try to, with a straight face, tell me their "classic" Miles Davis review wasn't horrible. A chubby white guy talking like a early 1900s black guy at a jazz club? This is why we can't have nice things)

i think i can look through any stupid music reviewing magazine and website and find a dumb review or an annoying rating

the point is using a first paragraph to bash 'indie douches' and pitchfork is just kind of...dumb

I suppose that it goes without saying that any review of "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" is met with the most zealous of flame wars. I'm surprise we still bother to review it!

Delete that apologetic bullshit at the end of your review, it's fine without it. If people want to make a fuss over a few lines then let them.

Hah! Somebody knows Prindle! Yeah, I find it hard to make the complete change from my old review style (basically Prindle like reviews) to what I'm going for now (a mix of all my influences).

erasedcitizen: I wasn't sure how to comment and respond to other people when I made that edit and I felt like people were misinformed as to what my first paragraph meant (and of course, I wanted to do away with misconceptions that I don't have a decent grasp of the English language, I just have a bad habit of never editing my stuff). Anyways, it still seems as if people are still pissed off, which leads me to assume that my insults, though not on purpose, were directed at them in a way (these people being those particular types of fans). Indie fans aren't all douches, but in all honesty, that's really the generalization they get, and it's the type of generalization I first used when I heard this album. When I put that aside, I discovered how great it was.

If the grammar is bad then fix it but you shouldn't write disclaimers because some people don't understand your writing.

I wouldn't say understand, just disagree. The disclaimer is there to make sure they understand. Honestly, I couldn't care less if people disagree, not as if anyone should. I like these types of reviews more than the "track by track", or, "let's talk about the background of the band and their members and their personal philosophy instead of the music" type of reviews. I'm by no means great, but hell, I wanna at least try and raise interesting points. But thanks erasedcitizen for the support! For a moment I thought I had enraged the entire Sputnik community.
