I'm fairly sure hyphens denoting clauses that could be placed in parentheses are open where I come from, but that could be different in the US. Either way, it's nothing to do with him making up for what you call the site's inadequacies; it's about making it legible, and it's awkward reading em dashes as en dashes because it trips the reader up and looks ugly.

i agree its an ugly sentence. I don't know exactly what you mean by 'em'
and 'en.' All I'm saying is that the text input options are extremely limited...better to just re-write the sentence

Little dashes are en, like -. Big dashes are em, like _ but not subscripted. All's I'm saying is, at points, dashes are necessary, and when they are it's a logical thing to do to make them open (spaces around them) so that it's more legible. Also, some publishers use en dashes for these things now anyway.

Regardless of what that says, there should be spaces before and after a dash, and none between a hypen. It only makes the spaces more necessary when he's using the hyphen in place of a dash because as it looks right now, it's wrong.

The hyphen/dash issue seems to be a little confusing, but suffice it to say, I added the spaces and edited that sentence about the single.
I hope that reads better.

Parts of this reminded me of Be Human, and if you liked that album, you may like parts of this.

Yeah. The band goes for an orchestrated thing like Fightstar used as well, and the voices of the 1,000 fans is kinda hit and miss. Up until Hurricane, it's pretty solid stuff.

I was kinda surprised by Hurricane, I found that one and Night of the Hunter to be the best.
Either way, this album way exceeded expectations, I think most can agree
