Title track is really hard to get into, in fact the whole album is difficult to understand, but once you realize it's beauty it never lets you go.

"along with "Travel" and "Probably Built in the 50's". "

Agreed. Those are by far my favourites, PBIT50's" live version on Superheat it's really intense.

The first time I listened to this I was completely shocked. I had only heard the band's debut album and rather enjoyed its Gothic Metal/Death-Doom influences, but 'How to Measure a planet?' really made me open my eyes to how great the band could get. Of course, it's an album that must be listened to more than once to get to grips with its overall sound, yet it is also an album that can take you on a seemingly life-long journey, and never make you feel the same way again. At a massive 103 minutes total running time, you would be curious and question whether this album is too long for its own good, but alas, it is merely long enough-yet when fully concentrating on its various melodies, sounds and atmospheres, it feels like a rather enjoyable lifetime, and one that can be embraced. Every song on here is flawless in its own significant way, and so is the album's overall sound.

I understand how you, and most people, feel about this album. But somehow this has always been the one I never got into.

I mean, Travel, Illuminating, Probably Built and Frail are some of the best songs this guys have ever made, but I think most of the other songs, while having the usual TG quallity standards, still lack in depth and emotion.

...Yet you give it a 4?

I still stand by the point that an album like this really deserves to be listened to in its entirety. I mean sure enough, when your playlist or whatever is on shuffle and the title track to this comes on, you may think to yourself from time to time "Oh it's THAT song", but I think as part of the album each song plays an entirely different part. But yeah, I understand your thoughts on it as well.

It's TG dude. :D And like I said there's quallity in every song here, some of them just don't really grab me, like the big sleep, Marooned, Liberty Bell or the instrumentals.

Yeah I understand your points this is a record that flows better when listened as a whole, but bear in mind the band itself once said that they have realized they're not happy with this lineup. If I remember correctly, they even said Probably should have been the opener instead of Frail.

Travel is amazing. The disc two is great. I still prefer Mandylion as my fovorite. I am blown away from this doomy/heavy vocal performance of Anneke!
