I was telling my friend that I was very skeptical of this album because the first single was just okay and then when i saw the tracklisting and saw the song with taylor swift, i was even more skeptical. Idk i think i was just hoping that on this album he'd finally break through of the pop and just go all bluesy (more guitar solos please) like he's been doing with the trio. but then again, continuum is essentially a pop album with just some minor jazz and blues influence. excited to hear this though, gonna try to go into it with a open mind

Just listened to it, wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be
Enjoyed 'Assassin' and 'All we ever do is say goodbye'
crossroad tone gets to me a tad, live solo would be so awesome though

it was pretty good the first times through, and as i keep listening, i think :

1. it does feel very laid back.

2. continuum & try! are exponentially more memorable/amazing Mayer endeavors.

3. 'Who says' feels like a track John wrote in the Continuum era, but it didn't make the cut.

4. 'Assassin' has garnered a listen each time through. its the stand out so far for me.

5. I'm happy that Taylor Swift only sings with him in the chorus, and doesn't take over/ sing a verse/ give this 'pretty good song' a 'shitty radio duet' status.

6. John may have covered the wrong song for the album, or shouldnt have had it in there at all. its just meh, and doesn't really fit into the vibe much. i don't know about it...

An overall good album. But i cannot, and others cannot stress enough how Spectacular Continuum and Try! are. i do not think he will be able to top those two.
