Thanks to "the day I tried to live" I got the respect of my music teacher. He particularly LOVED Ben Sheperd, he told me that he was the one who got the song on the right path because of the bass line and the time signature. Although he criticized me for comparing Cornell's lyrics to Sartre. Although he doesn't understand English, or that's what I got.

best thing about this band is Matt Cameron and that's because he played on Geddy's solo album

“Why are you talking about DotU on the Superunknown thread?“

Lol why not? Especially if it's in comparison of this.

DotU is soundgarden becoming closer to tool and far away from pearl jam. Thank God.

I was a fan of most of the bands at the time. Maybe Chris Cornell tickles the wrong way?

I was jamming most of the Seattle/Sub-Pop bands back in the day and man I always dug Soundgarden, especially this album when I first heard it. Heard Rusty Cage & Jesus Christ Pose beforehand and it blew the doors wide open than this came out! Pop ain't the first thing that came to mind for me. They reminded me of like zeppelin/sabbath when I first heard it, it was cool man, those crunchy fucking riffs.. they had something.

Haha, yeah that makes sense Mother Love Bone was the shit too, very unfortunate I remember that. Kind of funny that to this day I still hear at least Black Hole Sun every other day on the station, along with the other 90's biguns'. I still have radiation poisoning from it, can't escape that era lol! but I try not to overplay the crap out of these records, too late.

I just relistened for the first time since like 15+ years... ad this is way more awesome than i ever fathomed it to be... Varied, groovy, emotional, crunchy, technical, imaginative... why didn't I retry it earlier??

I totally feel you man, it also took me some years from first listen to realizing how great it is. I don't know how long it just stood there gathering dust in the shelf. Then some day I gave it another spin and it hit me hard. It's funny how these things can work.

To this day, I still have a copy of 'Apple' (reminded me a ton of GnR) loved it played the crap out of it.. It felt like the 80's were still attached that's why I dug it as much as I did.

Heh heh heh I remember feeling that way when Foo Fighter's first LP came out, but I was probably being bitter at the time because of Nirvana. They were overblown and overhyped same thing with Audioslave, but I did like their work to an extent not as much as Foo. I don't really know all the politics behind the groups, but I gotcha.

Wasn't Chris' involvement with Temple Of The Dog a tribute towards Andrew?

"I also don't like Chris Cornell because of Audioslave. That was supposed to be a gig for Layne if I remember"

Whoh is this true? I don't think I ever knew that.

The rumor about it sprung up some time ago but i think Tom Morello said it's not quite true, i dunno.

So fucking sad. I didn't grow up listening to Soundgarden or Audioslave but I loved Chris' voice. I probably go on a Soundgarden/Audioslave binge on youtube once a year.

I'd be really worried if I was Eddie Vedder or Mark Lanegan.

All the big grunge singers croaking young

Gavin Rossdale will live to 104

RIP Chris

Haven't listened to him in years, and like all things slept on, a sad shite reason to re-visit tonight.. Man was an integral part of what made that time period and that part of the country seem so limitless.

Only twice in my life, music news has almost brought me to tears. When Soundgarden broke up, and today. RIP
