David Bowie was writing nihilistic lyrics way back in the way back when and it came across a lot better when he did it. I was only 3 when this came out, but I find it hard to believe that there was ever a time that "Heresy" didn't feel dated.

Maybe I am too cynical for this album, but unlike Pretty Hate Machine, this album is really hurt by the lyrics. The only tracks I still listen to are "Eraser", "The Becoming", "Piggy" and "Hurt". Occasionally, I will listen "Closer" but even that has grown off me over the years.

By the way, I never said this album was bad (I mean I have 3.5'd). I just said that the lyrics hold it back and make certain bits nigh unlistenable. But the parts that work, work well.
