"Just go listen to Buried Inside "Spoils of the future" and see why some people aren't impressed by albums like this one."

You were so impressed by the Buried Inside album yet you fail to get the name right.

'Wretched World' featuring collaborations with members of Genghis Tron seems to follow in the footsteps of 'Grim Heart / Black Rose' as well as the title track on 2001's 'Jane Doe'. The problem with this is the track never builds to anything. Stuttering through effected guitars and overly dramatic vocals the song never really picks up much of a groove at any point and cuts off seemingly just as it should've started. This is the common compliant throughout 'Axe to Fall' as the band never really feels like they are playing a album spanning sound.

I was writing a review for this album but I couldn't finish because this is all I had to say. Nice job, I feel the same.

Well-written review. I'm glad you had the stones to make such a bold, yet accurate, claim about this highly-anticipated (and overrated, IMHO) album.

1. Spoils of future. OK! self face palm, I have no clue were that one came. I was a bit in a rush and didn't check the album name.
2. Albums rarely impress me, there's always that one song on 'em that just isn't as good as the rest.

One song shouldn't ruin an album though.

It surely can if you expect an album to retain a consistent flow, as opposed to a mere collection of songs.

The title track is awesome. Wretched World is one of my favorites on the whole album though...it's so amazing. The perfect album closer to this awesome record.

To each his own. I love the mellow feel of the song and the vocals. It flows so nicely...the last 2 songs being a break from the chaos. Of the final 2 tracks though I prefer Wretched World.

"Comparing 'Axe to Fall' to the band's most previously recent is almost disheartening."
i think the word release or album or cd is missing from the sentence.

and

"'Axe to Fall' in my eyes isn't a total disappointment the group is able to collect themselves throughout the tracks that actually retain the essence of Converge"
insert punctuation or a conjunction.

What's wrong with No Heroes? That album is beautiful.
