very good review. I'll check this out, the album seems to have some emotional resonance with me, and Admit It!!! looks interesting.

i've listened to metal now on repeat for over an hour on more than one occasion...neither this nor IDOTG are classic but both kick ass...don't know what the hell these new tracks are about, maybe they need to strip down the production

thanks lovar
IDOTG is a good album, but it's not epic or consistently impressive enough to work as a double album, and it has none of the sense of completeness of IARB.
Also did evidently not know that Adam, but thanks.
I'm actually enjoying the new stuff, it grows quite a bit and although I obviously think it will be difficult to top this I can see myself enjoying the self-titled more than IDOTG.

I like In Defense of the Genre more.
LOL I edited this because I changed my rating to a 4 which is lower than my rating for IDOTG and their
self-titled.

IDOTG is TERRIBLE.

Because you can't bear the sound of electric drums? I don't get it. What's not to like about it?

No b/c it's horrible. Cheesy, too many terrible guest singers, bland guitar work, bad lyrics, all over the place for the sake of being all over the place, juvenile attitude throughout, poor songwriting, self-indulgent vocals too high in the mix, Max let the other band members get involved in the songwriting which was a mistake b/c he's the only good songwriter, unoriginal hooks that aren't catchy in the first place, etc.
|
| |
Again, what's not to like about it? I need more reasoning.

idk it just kind of irks me, it's enjoyable but like I don't really need a 6 minute track of max bemis being ironic

Max Bemis is so ironic. He makes fun of Kings of Leon, Hipsters, AND Metalheads!
