Review is excellent but I can't but thing it should read in the summary that 'Alice In Chains haven't lost a step' rather than 'Alice In Chains hasn't lost a step'.

Am I off with that one?

I have never bothered with this band (yeah yeah, I know) Looked up the first track off this and I was pretty impressed. What album is the best?

Dirt is essential.

I don't know about their best though, I really should listen to the rest of their discography.

Waior, both versions are correct. Alice in Chains hasn't (singular) refers to the band as an entity, and Alice in Chains haven't (plural) refers to the band as the collective sum of individual band members.

Alligator- I would start with Dirt or Jar of Flies, depending on what mood you're in.

What are the moods? are they like the whole nirvana nevermind = fun but mainstream and in utero = good but very depressing thing?

^ This. Jar of Flies is more mellow and hopeful.

Jar of Flies is more accessible. I HIGHLY recommend it, it also catches the depression though (mostly on the amazing Nutshell).

"heard that single, just sounded like any other rock song on the radio"

So go listen to the rest then, that's the weakest song on the album obviously, and it's not even weak.

Pretty good review. Really enjoying this album. Private Hell is probably my favorite track...has a nice Jar of Flies mood to it.
