yeah i love the subtle nuances and intricacies in chancellor's bass work, and how the instruments give way to angelic synth. It sort of evokes this sense of reaching heaven , if i believed in such a place.

There are no shitters on Absence, but there are a few that leave me wishing Dulcinea/Holy Tears/Garden of Light would hurry up and begin.

yeah idk this and oceanic are just more powerful/visceral experiences than Absence which is a little more ethereal but sometimes meanders a bit too much for its own good imo.

The tracks here are basically all incredibly coherent, protracted crescendos and very satisfying climaxes whereas absence the songs are more segmented/complex and the flow can kinda suffer as a result. but it's a fair trade off. I'm glad they didn't just release panopticon 2.0. It's my favorite release when i'm in a certain mood e.g when i've had a toke

All their stuff from The Red Sea to WR is 4+ material anyway
