ugh.

Now I'm not a huge skillet fan, but its obvious that skillet did SOMETHING right.

they didn't do anything right, hence the poor rating.

Just because the album lacks progression doesn't mean that it deserves a poor rating.

did you read the review there were several factors acquitting to the low rating, not just the fact that this is essentially the same album as comatose.

Plenty of bands that enjoy a high rating on this website have never progressed even an infinitesmal bit.

beside the fact that this is a stupid argument. these other bands you allude to are probably more progressed than skillet in the first place, i wouldn't know based on your vague assumptions.

Skillet found their niche; get over it. If you like where they're at. Good for you. If not, bugger off.

so we should only review bands that are good?

"Should’ve When you Could’ve and One Day Too Late we’re two different songs,"

"We're"
You don't need the apostrophe in were. Completely different word.

yet another bad review...this album is simply amazing, my favourite album ever made, closely followed by red and tfk's new albums.

5/5...well done skillet, never thought u'd top comatose, but proved me wrong, an outstanding album and one of the few albums where i liked every single song on it. my least favourite song on awake is far better than many other bands best song

I didn't really enjoy this at all. I was hoping for a little more Collide in it, but it's not there. I might do a review since I haven't reviewed a CD I don't like before.

This album was a huge step backwards for Skillet. Musically it was really repetitive and unoriginal. Lyrically it had no real emotion or any themes I could relate to. However two positive things about this album are
1) Jen is singing (which is very good actually and definitely a step up from Kory Cooper)
2) Awake and Alive is actually done well musically and is interesting throughout (which makes me more annoyed because Skillet could have made more songs like this but they chose not to. Oh well, as long as they have an endless supply of 13 year old fangirls they will still sell their crap music. Grrr.)

Comatose was epic, with it's strings and powerful lyrics and bridges. But Awake takes it down a step with all the ballads to touch people. The point of the lyrics is for them to be relatable not story telling. If you want a story go find some SPill Canvas or something. But I want lyrics that I can relate to, and put forward to me in a powerful way that makes me want to mouth the lyrics and be in your face and pretend I'm in a skillet muic video. Seriously people, it's not a step down from comatose it's on the same level with a different angle.

Yeah this was disappointing given how good Comatose was.

Ironically:
Comatose kept me awake.
Awake puts me to sleep.

Far too many ballads.

Some songs were pure trash (e.g., Don't Wake Me, Should've When You Could've, One Day Too Late isn't much better).

Some were alright (Lucy and Never Surrender are decent and I love Believe) but nonetheless, we could have used less ballads.
