Cool, thanks. I'll probably get both. I'm always getting new cd's.

I've been really itching to hear some good quality melodic death metal, that's why I bought all 4 albums by Nightrage. They've got some solid tracks but so much of it feels forced.

If you want quality melodic death metal get Carcass - Heartwork and get Dark Tranquillity - Fiction.

See, I told you.

Hypocrisy are one of the best melodeath/death bands, but you might have them already

How about a history lesson. One of the original melodic death metal albums: Sentenced - North from Here.

I haven't found an album by them that I really like.

If you like those albums than you have to get Down because that really is the best album from their modern albums.

I know it doesn't make the record any better but in these guys' defence they probably don't think about progressing much musically and just have a kicking time writing songs and playing 'em. Review was excellent as always.

This. It's not about being the new Opeth and making a record full of "zomg-no-u-didnt-just-do-something-original-like-that-yes-we-did" but more about refining a style they already accel at.

R6Rider Down is their first non-metal record, but here's more: Dawn - Slaughtersun, Buried Dreams - Perceptions, Fractal Gates - Altered State Of Consciousness, Fear My Thoughts - Hell Sweet Hell

I had an idea of where Insomnium could've gone with this record, it had nothing to do with progressive music, but either way the band didn't go anywhere, they're just wasting time

No, Down was the first album with their new singer and gothic metal direction. Amok was their final semi-death album and North from Here was their only truly death metal-influenced release.

The problem is that they haven't done a thing besides slowly refine their style. I honestly don't care if a band progresses as long as they don't seem to copy themselves with every release. I was ok with it for the two albums after their debut, but when a new release sounds old upon the first listen than something is wrong.

This stale quality is only made worse by the fact that their sound was never original to begin with.

Never have and never will be. I remember back in the day when I got slack for calling these guys poor. Oh well, guess I was right. Review was too nice hahaha....excellent still.

And if you're wondering if I really consider this a 5/5, no, see my sound off.
