43% Burnt > All other Grind songs.

Regarding the noise comment. Grindcore in itself is a challenging genre to understand and a musical background helps to do so. Grindcore relies on dense obscurities and chaotic weavings of irregular speeds and time signatures to create a soundscape of dissonance that paints a picture well worth seeing. Look into the music a little more, there is so much here, its amazing, especially on this album. Dillinger does it better than all others on this album in my opionon. This Message Edited On 06.15.06

Good thing DEP is a hardcore band. Just because a band has characteristics of one genre another does not make that band that genre. I will agree though that good grindcore follows a formula of complexity rather than balls to the wall speed.

man i can't enjoy this for some reason. I listen to it and give all that i can to try to relate and get into it. But it still just sounds like a bunch of noise. I bet seeing them live may change my mind, because i can see it being a crazy chaotic show. But i missed that chance a long time ago.

Dancin' man I'm talking about this album. You said yourself on the first page more than once that this album falls under grindcore, and that is what I've always thought this album to be. Also I think that's mainly the reason why some people don't get it. Miss machine is definately hardcore though.

Apparently DEP are writing riffs they can barely play for their new album...could be interesting.

This album is pure ownage - incredible grind. Greg Puciato has made the band into more of a hardcore band but they are still awesome - Dimitri's voice is SOOOOO amazing...

For the genre it is good. They have a good drummer which being a drummer myself I enjoy, but I'm just not huge into this style.

P.S. - Why the heck is this in the punk section?

Cos grind is counted under punk on sputnik.

And also because grind is essentially really, really heavy punk.

And I thought Circle Takes The Square was spazzy... lol. I finally got around to listening to this and was completely blown away into a mountainside, rolled all the way down, hitting every sharp rock on the way down, splattered like roadkill on the interstate below, then freeway-pileupped-on. Musically, it's incredible and innovative, as for what it does for the genre, it's completely unf*ckwithable. Pure insane talent that'll probably never be matched by a similar band... 5/5

Except by themselves on Miss Machine which I consider to be a much better album. They didn't sacrifice insanity and made a much more listenable and diverse album.

Another one I haven't heard yet. I just started listening to this one about two weeks
ago after I uploaded some 5000+ songs onto my iPod, so I'm picking through it... I
might buy Miss Machine today, actually. I heard Irony Is A Dead Scene was
their best too, cuz of Mike Patton (who unquestionably rocks). Which do you prefer? This Message Edited On 08.11.06

To be honest, I agree with DFelon. This is good, but Miss Machine is better because the songs are still insane and masterfully done, but they made a much easier album to listen to. It has more depth and a wider audience. Plus, I like the idea of singing with music like this, even if it is only halfay between singing and screaming.

I read an interview with Ben and Brian about Miss Machine and they said that up until Miss Machine, they proved to themselves that they could play the technical and the crazy fast but what they wanted to do with Miss Machine was keep the dillinger spirit, but work on writing "actual songs" as they put it. I agree completely that Miss Machine is better, because its slightly more accesable. Greg definately does add to the songs with parts of actual singing, I agree with Dancin Man there. Although this is one of my favorite cds i cant get into it as easy as i can into miss machine

I thought I was the only one that like Miss Machine better! I still think CI is more impressive (especially when you consider that this was one of the first albums of its kind), but it kinda gives me a headache if I try and listen to it the whole way through.

It was nice seeing them play these songs live though. They played the first five tracks throughout the concert, and for that woman's scream in "The Running Board," Greg pressed the mic against a speaker for a feedback squeal.

(EDIT: the first five tracks, not counting the interlude. Everything from Sugar Coated Sour to The Running Board). This Message Edited On 08.16.06
