album is damn good, review is almost spot on. only thing i dont agree with is that i dont see the songs that he pointed out as a downside, quite as a downside. they do sound different and seem to come off as formulatic but they're still enjoyable. this band has gotten the execution down more than anything. good album

very enjoyable band

Sometimes at night I lie awake and wonder: have August Burns Red earned their status as metalcore’s reigning buzz band, or did they inherit it by default?

Dave, do you REALLY lie awake at night and ponder that?

Great review, but i think the only really bad track is "Meridian", I mean "White Washed" and "The Escape Artist" may be just unimaginative metal but it is still leaps and bound better then most metal bands. "Meridian" is just crap though.

Meh personal preference i guess, but i though it did not really flow with the rest of the album. Its like they recorded one song like 'meridian', did not know what to do with it and just threw it in there. That and it just sounds very generic. Nothing about that six minute song stood out and made me think EPIC, which is needed if your going to put a six minute slower song in a metal record

Parts of this album get a little hazed together though there are some great songs here. Oceans of Apathy is catchy as fuck
