Have you listened to any of their previous works? because they definitely have their own sound and style, it just doesnt stand out too well on this album as they were trying to go for a completely different sound in order to differentiate it from their previous albums which made up a trilogy(excluding voices ep).

Yea... McP3000, just the minor comment you made on the top of this page is enough to give people like you, people with 3720 comments, a bad rep on this site. If your going to make any massive and blatant and redonculous generalizations about a band's style, then at least:

1. always be kidding when you do it.

2. include the name of the album you making a generalization about, in this case ADHD.

3. and, most importantly, do not lump this band under a bigger band's shadow, like you just did with Dream Theater. Dream Theater has enough cheesy parts in their music to turn any casual listener away from them at the drop of the hat, which, in turn, gives a smaller band a bad rep., in this case post-reality dream Riverside.

Oh and Dream Theater's sound and style are derived so much from Jim Matheos and Fates Warning in the first place, not unlike Metallica and Exodus.

It's disappointing to hear that this album doesn't live up to the band's previous releases.

I've yet to check out Rapid Eye Movement either, so I'm in no rush to hear this...

This is my first album by them and I don't really see many problems. It sounds a little overtly Dream Theaterish at times and the Polish accent makes the poor English sound worse, but it's solid. I will probably 3.5 this.

This isn't bad so far, a little standard though.

...some of the above comments are ridiculous.

Please direct me to all this other music that sounds like this album, because I have yet to find one band whose style comes close to any of Riversides albums.

Hell, even the bands that people have brought up as similar sound NOTHING like them. Dream Theater? Porcupine Tree? Give me a break.

I was into their other albums and this was a bit weird and a let down at first

listened to a wider range of stuff since being on Sputnik and maybe that made the difference

Yeah it's definitely different like you said though, hopefully they'll go back to more of a REM sound next time

Not as good as their two first albums. Too much metal, too little prog.
But still quality music.

I created a profile on this website just to make this point . . . . . . . . in the space of 2 months this album has been awarded a slot in my top 5 albums of all time (speaking as a 50 year old guy who has around 2,000 albums . . . . .
I stumbled on this album by chance. I dont think I have ever enjoyed an album as much on FIRST listening and its still growing. Maybe it helps not to have heard the earlier stuff first. I have since downloaded ALL their earlier stuff and (having given them all a good listen) but none of them even come close to ADHD . . . its obviously just the 'right' blend of heavy / light / dark for my personal taste . .which is after all what its all about. Personal taste.
Desperate to find other stuff in this same mould I tried Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater but just cant take them seriously at all . . . far too pretentious and self indulgent . . theres something 'honest' about Riverside's vocal and musical delivery. Can someone PLEASE point me in the direction of another group who sound like this . . . . the production on this album is astonishing, played loud in the car . . . . I wouldn't listen to it at home.
