Looking forward to it. Four people posted reviews for this before the release date (and had them deleted) and only one of them has bothered to repost theirs.

WillieFisterbut, I understand what you're saying. My apologies. I really gave no opinion on what the album actually is. I've been a fan of Dream Theater ever since I was fortunate enough to be introduced to them. This is album is good for what it is. Thank you for opinion. I like sharing mine and hearing others as well.

Bad Drumming. Mike's vocals are bad. Tests your patience.

I don't understand how this album is getting such high rates. In my opinion is the worst Dream Theater album ever, along with Systematic Chaos. Unimaginative, lame, terrible lyrics... with some sparse brilliant parts here and there, but nothing remarkable.
Once and for all, John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy should seriouly considerate take singing lessons... or quit singing. The Portnoy approach to Death Metal, sounds more like "The Simpsons play Opeth" than real music.
LaBrie is as annoying as it's been in the last 5 albums. Happily, Petrucci and Portnoy realized how annoying he is and released a third disc without vocals! Maybe they did this with the hope to find a good singer sending them a recording of the album with his voice.
Wither... oh...my...god! Doesn't anybody agree that this is probably the worst song Dream Theater have written in their whole history? What were they thinking?

dream theater more like suck

Gr, I love A Rite of Passage, but the stupid interlude talking is annoying. :

album friggin slays. A Nightmare to Remember, The Shattered Fortress and The Count of Tuscany are easily among the best DT songs ever made. A Rite of Passage is awesome, The Best of Times is emotional, powerful and not as cheesy as their other stuff, unlike Wither, which has a mass cheese factor, yet it is great. I love this album. Best of 2009 so far.

I don't understand how this album is getting such high rates. In my opinion is the worst Dream Theater album ever, along with Systematic Chaos. Unimaginative, lame, terrible lyrics... with some sparse brilliant parts here and there, but nothing remarkable. Their lyrics have never been very good, this is no different. Their lyrics have also always been secondary to the music, which is really good.
Wither... oh...my...god! Doesn't anybody agree that this is probably the worst song Dream Theater have written in their whole history? What were they thinking? I thought it was one of their better ballads, actually.

Aside from The Count of Tuscany, Wither is my favorite song on here.

Wither is fucking amazing what are you guys on about, seriously?
I agree Mike's DM stuff only exists because Mike is a huge Opeth fan (you should hear Portnoy talk about these guys, he worships them almost), but I understand what they are trying to get at. I think he should have had Mike Akerfeldt do them though, because I know what he wants (he explained this vocal bit) but it doesn't sound as good as a pure growl. A real growl would have suited it better (or just cutting it off).

Wither is one of my least favorites but considering there's only 6 songs and I love them all that doesn't really mean anything. It's better than like half of whats on Systematic Chaos though.
The Count of Tuscany > A Nightmare to Remember > The Shattered Fortress >> The Best of Times > Wither >> A Rite of Passage

I think it's a great album but doesn't give me the chills like the older material did. Still good!

So... nobody agrees that Wither is their worst song ever? At least one of the worse? Am I deaf? It's just... so terrible... and when they reach the mellow part with LaBrie repeating the chorus a capella... arrggghhh

I am, Willie, but it's gonna have to wait a while. I haven't done anything much lately because I have exams, then I was away at Graspop the whole weekend with my girlfriend, and I'm gonna post a report of that on my blog too. So a review will gonna have to wait until... somewhere at the end of the week, maybe next week.

I know what I heard, Yeruko. And it's nowhere near their worst song ever, unless you're suggesting that DT intentionally released the wrong track. I don't know, because I don't have the album itself yet, but please clarify. (My birthday's almost here, so don't shoot me for not buying it. Yet.)

This is much much better than I thought it would be, probs a 4 - 4.5
The Shattered Fortress is instant win for including little bits from all the other AA songs

omg the solo that starts at like the 11:18 mark of The Count of Tuscany is so dreamy and amazing. I am in love with that part til the end of the song.
